@ ZZ383GTA Okay thats not a bad price, i guess i must of missed him saying rent your own trailer lol

@ Firechicken269 Its funny that you mention that. I took everything like that off the car, Even the strikers for the doors. When i said everything is off the car i mean everything is off the car lol. All tagged and bagged and ready to be reassembled when the car is done being painted.

Don't understand why you would spend so much time and money fixing this car then piss on it with a Macco paint job

Im not gonna have the cash in time to paint it before winter. I have no place to store the car and if i wait until i get the money, im gonna have to repeat all the bodywork over again wasting more time, money and materials. Either way i have to make some sort of a compromise. it kind of sucks

Get a gallon of DuPont 2k primer and prime the car in two good costs and throw a cover over it and you can store it outside. Then paint it next year for real, that's how mine was done and it works fine. The primer above has sealing powers and won't let water get into the bodywork.

Ill consider that. I still have a few other shops to contact. One of my friends is gonna speak to his body guy. Hopefully i can go down there next week and speak to him. He painted my friends car for around $1200 and he did a 3 stage job. Hopefully i can figure this out before winter. I wanna drive my Fcuking car allready

dont you already have a sealer on the car? im gunna have to agree with the Doc on this one. i have seen the owner of my shop turn people down because they want us to repaint somthing macco painted he said it wouldnt be worth redoing (dunno how true it is but he did it) macco paint is no good it fades real quick and they use just enough to make it look like its covered do what alex said get a good sealer and store the car in the winter.

if your worried about moister then get a huge tarp and park the car on top of it and then cover the car with another and tie then to gether and wrap the ends up with plastic of some sort

Thats how i had it before and the car still rusted pretty badly. There are still a few more spots that need to be finished. those would be the most problem spots on the car. I havent made a decision yet, im still weighing all my options

^ Moisture will occur w/a tarp..thats the worst thing to do unless you consistently take it off when its not raining...it'll stay dry when its raining but will get wet when the sun is out..kinda like the greenhouse effect..al gore will speak more on this. You can always find someone w/a garage to store the car over the winter..may have to shell out a few buks though.

Bottomline, it seems this car is a budget build basing it on the fact that your hunting for deals and doing the majority of the car yourself. There's a reason i didnt' paint my 'vert from maaco too...b/c i plan on keeping it down the line. The 'bird is being stored outdoors and i'm on a strick budget w/this thing as i have a 'plan' down the road and it rhymes w/'smith-gen'. If your really planning on keeping this thing and being on a budget w/no fore-see-able infusion of major cash down the line, then the best bet is either maaco or a private guy for the best price. Maaco will work in a pinch, look presentable if you do your research in a place and probably satisfy you.......but using a weather protected primer will also surfice until you have more cash and make it through the winter.

I did a poll w/my bird here on 3 options for paint:: 1. Maaco 2. Reputable body shop w/urathene paint, or 3. bc/cc from a reputable shop. Price was between $1200-3k. The majority chose bc/cc w/maaco coming in 2nd. Its easy to suggest when its not your cash..you decide based on your budget. Paint it and don't tell anyone who did it..only a selected few here will be able to tell anyhow.

Like a G6
like its been said b4 my car is maaco and for the price its fine. all the body guys can easily point out flaws in the paint, or parts that the body work wasnt so great (my fault) byt 95% of the general popu;ation wont be able to tell who painted it and whats wrong with it. it'll be a nice looking car that will turn heads when u drive. for a budget build like i did its fine. its outside all the time so trees fall on it and stuff but to anyone else it looks like a nice car.
its ur decision obvoiusly and getting a real paintjob is the best but for my needs and $ maaco will and has been sufficing me just fine. people be hatin on maaco but i kinda dig it

I saw that on ebay, Someone here had posted it up. I feel like water and crap would get under it and just sit on the paint making it bubble. I know it would deff protect it from chips though

^ Not that one. The 3m material that bonds to the paint and is invisible...you can barely see it. An authorized dealer will have to install it though..costs 250-300.

that clear bra is really nice my boss has it on his yello ferrari its barly noticable and it does protect it nicely...

another option i was told about i wanted to try on my truck but never got the chance too. my co worker was reading some hot rod magazine and there was an artical on a $300-$400 paint job this guy had a 60 impalla and used a roller to roll on single stage paint and then let it dry and once it was fully cured he began to wetsand the entire car and then did the 3m 3 or 4 step polishing (number of steps depends on color choice). i never saw the artical my self but the guy told me it came out suprisingly well it was just time consuming IMO this will be better than macco because you get to pick the quality of the supplies used just an idea i thought i would throw out there for you.

My buddy had his 07 C6 front bumper, rear bumper, headlights, around the fenders and rocker panels wrapped in I believe 30 or 40 mil clear 3m. You CAN NOT even see it unless you get up within 1ft of the paint. It cost him 1k to have the whole job professionally done. Its been one year and it still looks like day one.

I agree prime it with a good quality primer and let it sit until you can afford to get the paint done correctly. Maaco IMO is for rust buckets that you need to slap with a face lift so you can either make them drivable or sell. I have to admit I have seen some really nice show quality maaco jobs but I don't recommend taking the chance with 1000$

^maaco will throw on better paint then that, as long as you tell them to put enough coats so you can sand it out and polish it. Putting on a single stage paint with a roller?! That makes my insides cringe just thinking about it, you would need to be a master of the arts to even begin to get that job looking somewhat presentable.
