So I've always hated the black bumpers on the front and rear of my Formula. I would like to have smooth front and rear like a TA. I was wondering if l used a 85-90 TA nose without the ground effects would it work? Would that TA nose have the same shape as my nose minus the bumpers and front end ground effect... Not sure how hacked up the TA nose would be after removing the ground effect. As for the back end cover I was thinking of using a 91-92 Formula bumper or 85-90 TA rear bumper minus the ground effect, what do you guys think and has anyone done this?

It'll look like it's missing something with the Trans Am bumper with no ground effects. The nose will hang lower than the rest of the body. That is what the front ground effects are for. The rear Formula bumper from 91-92 is rounder and would look good.

You could try an earlier year Trans Am front bumper. I've seen it done on a Formula before and it looks good. You want the 84 style with the flat ”covers” instead of the grills in front.

I want to use the 85-90 nose minus the ground effects from the TA nose so it will look like my Formula bumper just without the black bumpers..... I didn't plan on keeping the ground effects on the nose.

i have a rear bumper for sale it will bolt up fine its the same minus the ugly black portion. Look at spades car or the guy in the city that restored the 89 trans am if you wanna see what it would look like with that bumper and no ground effects.

I'm hoping the ground effect on the nose of the 85-90 TA is removable and its not just one piece.

its all one piece
Well that would wreck my plans
If that's the case I might look in what's involved in going to a 91-92 Formula front and rear bumper.

91-92's formys don't have ground effects at all..they would work. I took the front plate off mine w/the 91/92 slits and it looks completely different..love those bumpers. I'd swap out the rear bumper but could anything be done w/w/that front one w/o the bumperettes?

I'd have to remove the bumpettes and fill or go with a 91-92 Formula nose
