the exhaust in my maxima is falling apart, 14 years and 126,000 miles will do that i suppose, so i picked up a used exhaust, including everything from the y-pipe back.....the pipes are in good shape, but the flanges are a little rusty. if i sand down the flanges, can i spray some of that high temp paint on it to help protect it from rusting out? could i use por 15 on the exhaust? this is a dd so i just wanna try to protect the exhaust from rusting out as much as i can. any advice/knowledge is appreciated, thanks |

Any high heat ceramic paint should be okay. |

I bought some for the formy yesterday..yes, you can use any high temp paint in a multitude of colors...why'd you buy a used exhaust when mineke can do one for you for under 200buks or you could get a pacesetter type unit for that price? |

cool, thanks guys and dave my whole exhaust was rotted, muffler and everything so i upgraded w this "performance exhaust. this y pipe alone is $200 new and an oem muffler is $100 new, so i got both used and everything inbetween the two for cheap, so i figured why not |

I can attest to the fact that his exhaust is falling off the car.![]() Like they said, anything high in ceramic and you're golden, but you'll have to keep up on it regularly. Winters are brutal on exhaust here. Its an endless fight. |

Dont Por-15 make a exhaust paint? One piece of advice is make sure its clean and degrease before you paint. |

Um...no POR 15 on exhaust or I could die??? um...i did end up overspraying it on my exhaust when I did the Vue I didn't intentionally get it there on purpose though, here you go Matt... http://www.por15.com/POR-20-ALUMINUM/productinfo/P2H/ If I could get my exhaust done for $200 at a Meineke, i'd prolly of done it by now!! Even if I brought in the muffler I wanted, shops out here would still charge more than that. I had cat back done on my 89 Escort about 10 years ago at a Cole Muffler, and it was $250 then!!! Doing it myself, and getting just the parts new breaks down to this,(for the SL) $220 manifold back, includes flex pipe, and catalytic converter $74 for resonator and pipe to muffler $57 magnaflow stainless muffler(could opt for either a $30 stock, or another $30 cherry bomb, but they rot out too quick) I'm trying to at least find a decent used middle part, universal cat(new of course) would cut costs too getting seperate, hoped not to go over $200 on my exhaust bill.
