Porsche 917's at Lemans had very tall gearing to get to 220mph at the 3.7 mile long mulsanne straight. But they had 620hp flat 12's! I think because Brian's car is a stroker...and has a 6speed....2.73's wouldn't be crazy. For sure, no one would outrun him on the highway....not even the cops! I would, though, upgrade the brakes! I think the club should investigate renting FBF.....a runway...so we can do a running mile to see what top speeds we have! THAT would be fun! Edited by black83zee, Dec 19 2011, 03:23 PM.

That could be a great business! Organize track days at the airfield. Set up a linear mile with electronic timers.....give people 3 runs for $ 200.00! It's pricey, but you'd need insurance, EMT, tow trucks, security, and a crew. With all these high hp cars now...I'm sure there's a market for this. A lot of people aren't into drag racing. |

I would love to see what my car can do top speed right now with my 3.23 gears, when I dynoed the car stock it hit 155mph on the dyno, when I asked if was calibrated the guy was like yeah why? I was like it showed you were going 155, so he went to the computer to read the file and was like oh sh!t yeah I guess it was going 155, anyways he had the car in fourth gear, your not suppose to dyno in 4th. |

Ahh guys, no. For the simple fact that Floyd Bennett field is a FEDERAL GOVERNMENT installation. The NYPD ESU, US Marines, and a few other Federal Government agencies are based there. They will not under any circumstances allow any type of event like this. Not to mention the fact that they've closed and blocked off the empty runway (huge sand mound smack dab in the middle). The only place to get up to speed is the main runway leading into the installation and that is a public road that people use to get to and from the Aviation Sports buildings. |

^ Yeah take it to Texas then. I saw on Speed Tanner Foust driving a couple of peoples cars. They do a standing mile and see if you can go 200mph. I think the air field is a nonworking one so there is no need to have the air strip closed down. |

If you're referring to Floyd Bennett field, they closed it down because people were taking their cars onto the empty runway to race, do WOT runs, you name it. I used to do WOT tuning down that runway... I sure do miss it... |

Actually the 91-92 Firebirds with the aero wing will start lifting a lot earlier than that. Remember Bernoulli's Principle from basic Physics? Dave, look at the rear wing of your Formula. It's the same as my GTA. It's literally shaped like an airplane wing. Looks awesome... till you get up to speed. The wing has the opposite effect of the rear spoiler of the earlier cars and it will actually lift the rear wheels little by little as you go faster. I buried my speedo once so I experienced less and less control as I got faster and faster. Was pretty nerve wracking. |

^ I see what you did there. Lol I buried my speedo before I did the suspension upgrades to the rear and it was scary. I did find out however, that my car will top out at roughly 100mph. Foot was to the floor and the RPMs weren't climbing anymore lol. |
