Remove the steel skin and is this crimped on? Can't weld aluminum to a steel door! Why? I'm thinking of weight savings, of course although I know they make these in fiberglass too. That's when you gut the inside of the door and have lexan windows, for the inside, not a door skin for the outside. |

Vettes are 'glass....don't hear any complaints. Some exotics now come with carbon fiber panels....like little knives when they shatter! Anything on a car can hurt you...just don't get hit! lol! |

New vettes now are composite plastic type material but they have an inner frame to prevent breakthru...i am assuming the glass aftermarket doors are strickly for weight savings and should only be used off road. |

If you are making a track car who is t-boning you? You could always add bracing in the fiberglass door to try and add some support. Regardless That little piece of steel in the door isnt gonna save u. this guy i knew brought an 86 Iroc for parts that was Tboned on the driver side. The door didnt save anything and it was the stock door. And most people that are gonna run those fiberglass doors is most likely going to build a strip car. and they would have roll cages to protect them. Edited by Camaros4Life, Feb 9 2012, 04:35 PM.

Guess u don't go to the track a lot, track accidents are far worse then street accidents, I see smashed cars everyday in my field of work and I will never ever run glass doors on any car ever. |

Alex, it states the panels are available with holes for door handles and window cranks too. Plus, my car is a frying pan in the summer anyhow. I'm not ready to start working on the interior just yet though. That's last on my list of upgrades. |

It's not a track car, I like interiors myself, I made my door pannels and then did half inch foam under the suade, no reason you can't have comfort n style with speed to boot, no need for a metal door pannel on a street car, to me they look cheap and hack job like, but in the end it's your car, you can drive it without doors if you choose to do so lol, my preference is full plush nice interior and street looks with a atom bomb under the hood. |

I've given that a thought too, plush updated interior n all. Like I said, last on my list of things to do. I've got to get an atom bomb (or two) under the hood, update all the suspension and make it handle like a dream before I even think of messing with the interior at all. |
