As always there's a trade off, in this situation throttle response to hp out put, a large tb will almost always add some hp with the sacrifice of response, the pedal will feel spongy and also make it much harder to tune, a very large tb to intake can make a tuners life hell, what happens in because with very small throttle blade movement so much air flow comes in that it can cause an AE event, normally this should not happen, dialing in AE gets tricky. So you ask why do I want to go mono blade, well my car is a 350 and it weighs in at 3808, so to get my car moving I need all the top end hp I can get, I'm not to concerned with TQ since I will be most likely bumping it up to 4000 stall with a 3:1 TQ manipulation. |

so is it safe to say it is pointless to install a 52 mm on a 305 tpi stock other than ported everything but the throttle body. reason I ask is mine is old original and has a decent amount of slop on the spring side and a little on the tps side. overall the car drives fine and Ive been using it as my dd. sht as broke as I am for that price it might be worth it. any opinions out there....now that's a loaded question |

To my knowledge, an upgraded throttle body is best warranted on heads/cam swap and not sooo much used like other bolt on device mods like headers/cold air intake etc. Even after a cam/heads swap, the throttle body should be ported to the same spec as the intake manifold. |

Dave a good used one would be a better choice for you if you need to replace a worn old one, the stock 47mm tb can flow a little over 700cfm, in thoery that good for 450hp. |
