![]() Nigel Underwood was one of the most significant players at the start of UcW. Originally hired as an on-air General Manager, Nigel would embrace the role of the overbearing authority figure, not only clashing with fellow GM Brian Score over the ownership and direction of the company, but also engaging in a memorable feud with Van Wyld that helped put the ‘Wyldman’ on the map. After his crooked ways caught up to him Nigel would be fired from his general manager role, but he would bounce back from that, joining up first with Absolute Power, then, after that group split up, remained with Bill Masters, forming what would become one of UcW’s most successful stables, Integrity Inc. Despite managing Masters to the UcW Championship, Nigel would still crave the power and control of UcW, and as Integrity Inc. grew in numbers, managed to make that dream a reality as Integrity Inc. would best a Brian Score-led team to once again put Nigel on top of UcW, where his abuses of power would continue – even at one point becoming the Seattle Champion. Unfortunately Nigel would be taken from us all at the height of his villainy by a tragic car crash in early 2008, leaving a huge hole in the wrestling world. A consummate example of what an evil authority figure should be, we honour Nigel’s memory and welcome him into the Class of 2017. -------------------------------------------- ![]() Debuting in XFW as ‘Ghost’ of the tag team duo known as The Last, the ‘Pint-sized Princess’ would come into her own in CWR as one half of Southern Lovin’, then would go on to have entertaining runs in UcW, PRIME and WsW. A colourful and often irreverent personality, Valentine would always find a way to be the center of attention – be it her on/off relationship with Ryan Michaels as part of ELITE Enterprises, be it her always entertaining promos, ordering around her on/off lackeys the Heartbreak Express, or even her love of slapping poor ring announcers Lisa Devere and Brooklyn, she would always find a way to keep the fans invested and entertained. While she may not have had the greatest of in-ring successes, amassing only a single run as Pure champion, there is no doubt that Valentine was one of the most entertaining individuals to ever set foot in a WsW ring. For all this and more we welcome Valentine to the class of 2017 -------------------------------------------- ![]() Babe Wire debuted in PRIME as the twisted and sadistic VampWire, and quickly began leaving a mark, both on the company and on her opponents – literally in fact, as she quickly became known for her penchant for biting other wrestlers. She quickly rose through the ranks of WsW becoming the first Texas State Champion (and first champion in the company’s history), and would also hold the Tag team Championship as well, alongside her acolyte Sinead as part of the appropriately named ‘Bloodlust’. She would even rise to the point where she would challenge for the ULTIMATE Championship at the first ever Pride & Glory, but would fail to add that title to her haul… and indeed that would be the high point of her career, as when she returned to WsW she struggled to initially find herself. Eventually she would shake off her old ways and return to being Babe Wire, becoming an integral part of the Vixens division and having several near misses with the championship. Unfortunately for Babe her body wasn’t able to keep up with the grind and she would retire in late 2016 in an emotional farewell. Still, there can be no doubt that be it as Vamp or Babe, she has been a huge part of WsW over the years – and it is for that reason that we welcome her to the Class of 2017. -------------------------------------------- ![]() From the moment he debuted in XFW back in 2005, it was clear that De’Anton Maybon was no ordinary wrestler. Suffering from a chip on his shoulder over his less-than-homely looks, Maybon would begin a feud with Brian Score that would soon grow to include Score’s best friend Mark Brown and Maybon’s new partner and fellow ‘Outcast’ Parker Davis. It would be in UCW that Maybon would really shine, however, as his exhibition match with Colm Royce would put the promotion on the map. While his first stint would end at the hands of Royce, disappearing after losing a brutal cage match, he would return and join the NNCR sub-brand, eventually besting Mike Raboin to become NNCR Champion (Later renamed to the UcW Northern Championship). The best was yet to come, however, as he would go on to win the UcW Championship after cashing in a 365 contract shot during the Bill Masters/Assassin/Sven Watersford match at Collision Course 2009. Although he would never again replicate this feat, he would go on to become a big part of WsW history, having a reign as Pure Champion, helping train some of the next generation in Wyld U, as well as having memorable matches with the likes of Mark Brown, The Hellions and his on/off best friend Parker Davis. And indeed it would be at the hands of the latter that his career would end when he tried, and unfortunately failed to win the Ultimate International Championship, leading to him putting his career on the line in a losing effort at Southern Justice III. Still, De’Anton has been an integral part of WsW and it’s ancestor companies over the years – and it is because of this that we proudly welcome him to the Class of 2017. |
