Mk, I've got a rant that I've been thinking about for the last couple of days. I'm really somewhat upset at the state of music in relation to the American public. When it comes to music, like in football (y'know, the kind where they actually use their feet in relation to the ball the whole time, instead of only part of the time), Americans are total tards. If you don't know, this is what I'm getting at: Panic! At the Disco Simple Plan The Ramones Deathcab for Cutie G-Unit Any R&B singer, male or female, not named Mary J Blige Yung Joc Chamillionaire Do you know what all these artists have in common? They have no fucking talent whatsoever. The lyrics are all unoriginal (and especially in some cases, emo (HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO MEEEEEE)), and if you listen closely to the songs that they make the themes and power chords/beats are practically the same. Yeah, yeah, /wrists and /sexwithhos, whatever, guys. I don't care what you guys have to play, because usually it's one CD for you guys and then the industry discards you like the talentless fruits you are. That's why I listen to electronica - because even if it may be the same artists, they actually make mixes involving other people's work that ISN'T heard on the radio 25 times a day! And what's more - the majority of the songs are actually stuff I can listen to without skipping over, and their own original work isn't too bad as well. So, in essence, I'll take Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold and BT over Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, My Chemical Romance, Chris Brown and Rihanna any day, any week, any month, any year, any lifetime. |

I hate emo. That's all there is to it. I Must Be Emo Listen to that song. It's awesome. I love Rihanna. She's not only beautiful, she can sing like a goddess. Now, I don't much care for a couple of her videos, but she still sings great. The video I mention mostly is Unfaithful. She moves her hands and arms too much. >_> My biggest rant is the undying bashing of video games. It never ends. Can you believe Bush tried to ban the sales of Final Fantasy VII (not that I would mind, really) because of a bombing in Texas? It didn't go through, I found out. But it was pretty ridiculous, to say the least. And then you have these fucktards going and shootin up people and stealing cars or whatever and the first thing they do is find out what video games they played and blame those. I swear, people need to worry about THEMSELVES instead of whatever game their kids played last. |

Yeah, DM, I think I speak for all of us when I say that Jack Thompson is the biggest douche in America atm. Of course, it really doesn't help that the general public is just playing right into his hands (it's almost like it's intentional sometimes >_>). But along those lines, when I visit other forums I find that webcomics are dissed almost universally because they're "not funny". It seems pretty obvious to me that bashing Penny Arcade and VG Cats is the "cool" thing to do on the Internet now and just say that "they're not funny at all, I maybe smiled and that's it." Gratz on no sense of humor, morons. I think the two aforementioned comics, though sometimes puzzling because I don't get the punchlines, are generally hilarious. I guess PA gets the bashing sometimes because it doesn't always deal with gaming (and I'd like to punch the people in the face who bash it for that reason, the world doesn't cater to your whims, get over it), and VG Cats gets bashed because the artist is obviously a Nintendo/FF fan (and is somewhat of a casual gamer, judging from the games he bases his comics on) and actually takes time to put text into his comics. In total, I think the majority of them just bash it because it'll help the status of their e-peen (or e-bewbs, depending on your gender). EDIT: @ Someguy: Yeah, I actually used to listen to hip hop and such in middle school, and then when I realized that it was all the same I had a friend hook me up with a CD with some ATB, Tiesto and PvD on it. It's like I was instantly hooked. |

Hah, agreed with all of you. Really, game bashing makes my head hurt. It's the kind of argument that doesn't go anywhere because of the studies that contradict each other. Plus parents who don't want to take responsibility. Actually, that's a good rant topic. There are a lot of parents who just don't want to be responsible for the crap that happens with their kids. Parenting means taking responsibility. When they don't, I just call it "Adult not supervising a kid". It's like, really. Blame it on whatever you'd like, but at the end of the day, parents have a lot of influence over their kids. The only exception is with older kids, but I think that the foundation of the behaviors laid out in childhood continue into adolescence and adulthood unless changed, which can require some effort. But second, and my more controversial rant topic, is family in general. People make such a big deal out of it. In Health, people said that family was really in their top 10 of most important things. Am I just that different? I don't see the significance in it. My family doesn't get along, and I just see them as just "people who I live with". I don't have a problem with it, but everyone insists that I'm wrong. I understand that they feel differently about it, but I don't feel that it's wrong; it's just different, and perhaps I don't understand, but certainly, it's a matter of perspective. My mom was also talking to our neighbor and was whining about how I'm detatched, and then she yells at me for insignificant things. And then later, she was talking to me about it, and how she was talking about attachment therapy. There's no way I'm doing that. There's been some tragic things that have happened as a result of "rebirthing", and besides, I just don't see the point behind it. I'm not the kind of person that needs support; I'm fairly avoidant. I just don't care about that stuff. Maybe I'm just too independent... |

Quite possibly, don't mind me... I'm going to do some ranting now *rant* But seriouly, kids these days I feel do need to see some form of violence. We can't let our next generation become a bunch of wimps. We shouldn't make them blood thirsty either but just enough so that they don't faint at the sight of blood. But when they do start doing stuff like taking drugs and reverting to crime and theft. That is when you need to lay a smack down to show who is boss and you mean serious business. |

Yeah... people are afraid of "child abuse." When was it considered child abuse to spank your children for doing something bad? Hell nuns will use sharp metal measuring sticks (a.k.a. rulers) on kids in Catholic schools. My kids will be getting physical punishment, and Nell knows that. And I'll inform them at a young age so they get an early start on it--I don't care what games you play, but don't do it in the real world. Fireballs are not real, and you can't just carry a sword anywhere you go. |

Hah, the younger kids, I feel, are screwed. There's a movement against any sort of physical punishment. I mean, I don't condone abuse by any means, but it is not really sinful to spank your child, and it can be very effective when done under the correct circumstances. But I feel that parenting is, uh, changing with each generation, so to speak. I was mannerly and polite when I was my younger brother's age. Or, at least enough to say "please" and "thank you". But he doesn't even do that, and to my surprise, neither do all the rest of the lot. Plus, they're almost too dependent, I think. The kid can't even pour himself a glass of juice or make a sandwich because he doesn't know how. Of course, when I point this out to my mom, she snaps at me and insists that I'm just being this way because I have "issues". Plus, we're in an age that "everybody wins". It's ridiculous. I mean, look at the fact that all the kids are "winners" at a given sport. It teaches that you have to be the "best" in everything. My little bro will often throw tantrums if he isn't "the best", which is ridiculous. You win some, and you lose some. Thinking any other way is unrealistic and a waste of energy. I suppose the argument is to "boost the self-esteem of a kids", but let's face it, younger kids can be too confident. Parents like to see their kids happy, and it's also a plus if they can say something like, "Hey, my kid is a winner!" I'm sure it will be a huge slap in the face to go to college and see cream of the crop... throughout the entire student body. I feel it's a disservice for parents to let their kids win every round. I'm pretty good with defeat, in terms of the fact that I don't get so pissed off about it. But my little bro will get so pissed off, it's really pretty interesting. And any constructive suggestion is met with tears. It just amazes me, I guess... |

My nephew acts like a brat constantly, but my sister claims it's "because he's only 6." What the bloody fuck ever.. I know the best time to punish a child and when not to. I may not have kids or like them, but that doesn't mean that when I have my own I don't know how to raise them. There's a saying that goes, "You don't know what kind of parent you will be until you become one." That is true in many senses. |

I suppose. But some things you know for certain. I don't really think that it's possible to turn yourself around 180 degrees, so there has to be some predictions that can be made, but not everything is really what you think it will be until you do it. Plus, we have the help of studies to predict. I've never been a very bonding person, perhaps because my level of trust in others is particularly low. People who don't make meaningful, bonding relationships don't tend to have those kinds of relationships with their kids as well. Not to say that it doesn't happen, but that's what the likely course is. In that case, then, it may be probable that I wouldn't be a really touchy feely parent. But I can't tolerate some behaviors in kids. I don't expect them to be masters of social rules and things, especially when society teaches kids one set of rules and adults another at times, but there are some basic rules that should just be followed (for example, prolonged eye-contact). As in, like, keeping really negative comments about someone to yourself while you're in the general area of that person. And the "please" and "thank you" thing. Perhaps another important thing that parents have in regards to shaping their children is perception, which I find to be highly important. One person perceives a constructive criticism as a personal attack, and the other, a true interest in the subject. It really just depends. I suppose some of it relies in "nature" and "genetics", but environment has to be a big portion of it as well. We can't have a generation of people who cry when someone gives them a constructive criticism and whatnot. |

I've finally got something to rant about lol. And it's about the trains here That and high school brats on trains
First of all, I think the amount they charge for a regular multi-trip ticket (which is 10 trips in total) is outragous. They used to be like $20 when I first started buying them when I worked as a jeweller. Then they went up to $22 or something, then $24 now within a couple of months. And for what? Their service hasn't gotten any better. Trains are still run down, and don't hardly run on time. Yet they start charging more on their tickets. But it seems to be only the regular trips. Now that I am a student I can get concession trips, which are $12, and a $6 which runs from Mon-Fri between 9am-3pm... I mean... Why such the low charge on everyone else except the regular trips? It's evil They just keep charging more on the regular trips instead of all the others. Yes I admit regular trip buyers would be ones who work fulltime and stuff. But I think to be fair, they should of only increased it by a little bit, and increase all other tickets by a little bit as well. I just don't think it's fair how they rip off the regular trips basically... Especially since I'll have to start buying them again once February gets here. Because one trip to work, and one trip back already uses 2 trips... So you basically go through one a week. I'm very sure people won't mind seeing the tickets go up by like 25 cents instead of 2 dollars! And now the high school kids *sighs* Well for one, I blame the bloody train company that doesn't decide to add an extra carriage onto our train route when high school breaks out at around 3pm. Because when the students come onto the train it is so packed it isn't funny. Plus they need to crowd around the bloody door so when people want to get out, it's very difficult to. They hardly decide to move, and they keep their big bags on their backs so again it takes up room and *sighs* They aren't THAT thin to get by easily Almost missed my stop when they wouldn't decide to move out of the bloody way. Plus they are so loud...
They assume they run the train it seems. I found myself getting a headache on the way home, and when I was talking to a friend, I couldn't hardly hear her and she was right infront of me

Lol, immature high schoolers. I get sick of that, too. I don't tend to think that I'm one of them, as I'm generally not "in the way". I'm in the middle of my Chem lab, but I can't get it done because of my little bro (9) and his friend. They talk like they're in the middle of a concert or a club with loud music. In other words, at the top of their lungs. It's really hard to get work done, so I'm taking a slight break. Plus, they say the most ridiculous things, but they think they're cool. Whatever. It's simply impossible to do anything when they're screaming around like little girls, too. Also, my mom lets him walk all over me, and if I say anything, she starts yelling at me. Feh. So difficult to concentrate with Pikmin on full volume and screaming prepubescent boys... |

Mk, this one's been brewing for a while, and seeing kids at school like this pretty much pushed me over the edge, basically telling me "You probably should post something about this". So here goes: I hate weeaboos. What's a weeaboo, you ask? Another term for it is Wapanese, or a white person that tries to act Asian (especially Japanese). You can often tell one in one of three ways: 1. They wear some sort of memorabilia (For example, an Full Metal Alchemist hoodie or one of those goddamned Naruto headbands) - This is what sparked this rant, the Narutards and their headbands - I seriously thought I was going to have to go over there and punch them in the face 2. They can't go ten minutes without talking about some sort of manga or anime 3. They cite Final Fantasy (number 7 is the main perpetrator here) as their favorite game (when likely it's one of the only games they've ever played) 4. Their screen name or username references FF7 or Inuyasha in any particular way (seriously, the only thing that makes Sephiroth even remotely close to a badass is the fact that One Winged Angel is one of Uematsu's best works [I will note that he butchered the Advent Children version, obtw]) Common phrases that they use include stupid Japanese such as "KAWAII DESU!! ^________^;;;;" or "OMG SEPHY AND SESSHY ARE MY BISHIS (the inverse of this would probably include a character from DOA and/or Tifa, because let's face it, their assets (and by "assets" I mean breasts) are mind-numbing)". Commonly the music they listen to is either anime soundtracks or some sort of J-pop, especially Ayumi Hamasaki (I think I spelled that wrong, oh well). I'm not going to lie - I loved watching FMA and Advent Children, and I've got a few gigs of anime on my computer. Hell, I even bought the whole goddamned Love Hina manga. However, you don't see me incessantly talking about it (in fact, I'm rather embarassed to admit that Love Hina thing, it definitely delivers a blow to my masculinity for sure) or making fanboyish comments such as the ones above. However, I consider everyone on this forum exempt from this fear and loathing (Hunter S. Thompson lolololol) because I know that you guys have more than anime on the brain all the time (perhaps I'm mistaken in assuming this? I hope I'm not). Still, though, I feel awkward whenever I listen to the remix of Ayu's "M" that's on one of my ATB mixes because I'm a firm believer in the notion that you should be able to understand the lyrics before you listen to the music. And it's not just Japanese, either - I have a hard time listening to Korean, Latin, or even Spanish lyrics as well (seriously, I love listening to One Winged Angel, but the Latin lyrics always make me feel weird) because I can't understand what the fruck they're saying the majority of the time. So, in essence: Anime nerds of both genders should be wiped off the face of the earth (or at least educated in the ways of gaming, for God's sake...) simply because they're annoying beyond belief. Don't get me wrong, I love Japan and I really want to visit it sometime in my life. But like I said, you don't see me playing a lot of JRPGs or anime-based games. |

Nothing screams "insecurity" more than a person wearing a Naruto headband or a girl with cat ears. Or any kind of furry ears on a person. I have the feeling that it's a part of that "being different" thing. It's different, for sure, but not in a good way. There are some anime I enjoy, but I hardly ever talk about it anymore. I have a long list of conversation scripts, and a lot of improvs, so to speak. And a lot of times, I just don't talk at all. So I don't run around screaming, "Dude, I'm a ninja!" I have to admit, I do have a particular set of friends at school that I, uh, am slightly distancing myself from, just because they're really stereotypically anime geeks. They still like me, though. *shrugs* I just wish they wouldn't embarrass themselves so much. Writing dragonscript in school is not cool, and neither is speaking any Japanese (unless you know it, in which case I'd be happy to chat about the weather or whatever). Also, what's irritating is that they don't have the capacity to understand social rules and hygiene. Lol. Seriously. I might not be dressing up all slutty and getting bitchy like a lot of the girls at my school do (some are cool, but a lot of them aren't), but I have the decency not to walk up to someone and start babbling or bothering people. Or screaming at the top of my lungs, "(insert character) is the best!" But you can break them. See, I might have started learning Japanese because of anime, but I'm pretty much cut-off from that at the moment. I've developed an interest in the language itself. The Japanese mood is a lot different than from English. And if someone talks to me in Japanese, I usually talk back. And not in just one or two words. It's like, an actual *gasp* sentence. If it's an anime geek, they'll usually shut up. BTW, I partially don't qualify for "those people who listen to Japanese and don't understand". Partially. Heheh. I do actually understand a bit, and I understand more when I learn more vocabulary and grammar. Revisiting old songs, I go, "Wow, I understand now!" It's like total enlightenment. But then again, I can't even really understand what people say in English songs, because I have a hard time understanding/following anyways, lol. Frankly, what I find disturbing (and funny at the same time) is the use of anime as being different. Somehow, they find it cool to act like that. I don't. It's just a matter of taste, I guess. But they also have this distorted view of Japan, probably thinking that there's a dojo on every block and that every Japanese person knows some form of martial arts and owns a katana. And that everything's the way it is in anime. Anime does point out some cultural significance, but a lot of it is, uh, made to be pretty. I'd admit that Japan does have a much smaller rate of crime than the U.S., but they get ronin out there killing themselves because they fail exams and stuff. And some really really weird stuff can come out of Japan, too. Not to mention that some parts of it just aren't that nice to look at, such as its history with China and Korea. Of course, confirmation bias is at work here, confirming their beliefs that Japan beats the U.S. in just about every single way, so they adopt their perceived characteristics of Japanese people. |

Well I honestly don't know what to say here. See, I do like Ayumi Hamasaki. She is my favorite artist, after all. I do like my anime, but like you, Kevin, I will never IN MY LIFE do a cosplay. I believe that you don't need to know the translation to some songs as it sounds crappy that way. Listening to Krishna Das, Ayumi Hamasaki, Rammstein, E Nomine... I don't really care what they're saying. They're songs are cool BECAUSE of their tone they use and the way their language fits. There are times when I will get the translations and read as I listen, but sometimes it takes away the spark of the music. And I will say this... Just because I like anime and Japanese music/anime themes, I don't go parading my shit around to everyone to boast about what I got. If you've beaten Final Fantasy VII 35 times, hey, kudos to you. By the way, this world isn't Mario. You only get one life, and if you spend it being a fucking dumbass anime geek and constantly wanting to talk about the latest episode of DBZ or Naruto, you need to grow up. And Wolfy, you aren't the only victim of that. At my college, I see that sometimes. And you know what's funny? It has gotten to the point when I can spot an anime kid all the way across campus/town. Or an emo. Regardless, both are basically taking over the country and I think we should put a stop to it. We should make topics about those... the emo thing has been on my mind awhile... By the way, my email is based from FF7. I still think it's quite clever, though FF7 is currently overrated. As I may have mentioned on GameSpot, FF7 was a good game--for its time. I still anticipate FFXII, sometimes anxiously, but I know it's all good because we got our faithful FF7 fangroups to somehow trash the game in some retarded fashion. "Sephiroth is still the best." You know what? Fuck you. FUCK. YOU. No one cares. I liked Sephiroth, too. You know what's funny? I doubt you care either. No one cares. Big fuckin whoop. I can't even enjoy a game because it has to be compared to FF7. I can't even enjoy Dirge of Cerberus because people gotta say something stupid about it. For the record, Legend of Dragoon was my favorite RPG. My favorite game is The Sims series. That includes SimCity, yes. My favorite Final Fantasy was numero nuevo. (That's #9 for you non-bilinguals.) I like Empire Earth/Age of Empires, Kessen, Soul Caulibur, Tekken, Mortal Kombat (rock on, biatch ), Unreal, etc. I like all genres. So I don't qualify as an FF geek, that's for sure.I do have an Advent Children poster in my closet, has yet to be rolled up. I own the movie and made 3 AMVs which can be found in the Anime section, feedback mucho appreciated. Anyways, my other rant is freeloaders. I hate freeloaders, moochers, people with shit handed to them. Rich kids/preps are my bigger problem. Those who get to drive Daddy's new Ferrari to school and if they get a speeding ticket? Eh, no problem! Papi will pay for it. Slap on the wrist, don't do it again, William Gregory Jones, III. Can I count on you? That's my boy, here's the keys to my Hummer. What? You wrecked it? Nah, don't worry. Slap on the wrist, don't do it again. Good thing we're covered, William Gregory Jones, III. Oh, you wanna be called GJ-Thrice? Well, you're just a bundle o' joy, GJ-Thrice. As you can see... I hate rich people. I have to work my ASS off for my shit, and they get it handed to them. Fuck you, rich people. FUCK. YOU. </rant> |

So, in a nutshell... Hardcore Otaku wannabes? I think that out of all the nerds there are, the hardest to find are Otaku's. They dress like normal people, they act like normal people. But once they get a reference to any anime/manga they are like "OMGWTFROFLMAO I'VE SEEN THAT!".. maybe thats not how they will act but I dunno. I think they are the hardest to find along with a Video Gamer... Not the Counter-Strike players... I would like to rant about the dubbing for anime, generally I would find that subtitled versions are better. Why? Because I have the satisfaction of knowing that nothing is removed, it will have removed violence and curse words and for the fact that the names won't be messed up either. The best dubbing I have ever seen in Anime is Evangelion hands down. That I feel is done perfectly that I like the dubbed version over the subbed version. What I hate more is the anime that America translates and transforms into a kids show?! WTF?! Naruto is coming here soon, I've already heard some of their voices especially Naruto's and shook my head in disgrace... I'm guessing that other kids shows like Zatch Bell would be around Teen rating in Japan. I cant really think of anymore right now... |

I think Zatch Bell is like that, actually. I have the whole Eureka Seven on DVD. The whole series. I saw a lot of parts cut off TV when I watched it. It's stupid. |

That and high school brats on trains
First of all, I think the amount they charge for a regular multi-trip ticket (which is 10 trips in total) is outragous. They used to be like $20 when I first started buying them when I worked as a jeweller. Then they went up to $22 or something, then $24 now within a couple of months. And for what? Their service hasn't gotten any better. Trains are still run down, and don't hardly run on time. Yet they start charging more on their tickets.

), Unreal, etc. I like all genres. So I don't qualify as an FF geek, that's for sure.
