I thought this place needed a new topic so I figured I'd start something that we can bitch about nonstop for hours lol. I know I could anyway
Here, discuss some good/bad experiences you've had with customer service, whether it was you trying to provide it or when you were receiving it. I've got a lot of awsome ones to talk about... A lot of bad ones but I'll see what everyone else says first

As you know, Rach, I used to work at a hotel. 'Nuff said. Nah, I'm kiddin. But I did work there. And I hate rewards programs. Especially Hilton Honors. Hilton spoils those little bastards like no other. They treat you like your scum. "Well, I'm a Diamond member--" "I don't give a FUCK! Your wife/husband is at home fucking your best friend anyways, so shut up about your new golf clubs, ya greedy bitch!" *cough* I don't do customer service anymore. |

Oh I love stuck up customers... They are such a riot, but a pain in the ass to serve. I swear most people think they are royalty when they enter a store or something. They really need to get over themselves. Like when I say, "Hello, how are you?" to some people, some go, "Just looking." ...... It's like, 'Um, hello!? When did I ever ask if you needed help?! I said HELLO you dumbass!' And then when I just try to get friendly with customers, as it's a policy for us to ask the customer at least 3 questions before they leave. I was trying to talk to one lady, and while I was putting her item through the computer, I asked how her day was and stuff. She answered with no worries, but then we got to talking about work. I asked where she worked, if it was in the area or something, and she goes, "Well, that isn't any of your business now is it?" I'm like thinking, 'God, are you a janitor or a prostitute or something?' Stupid

I don't mean to sound like I'm spamming by posting in this thread, but I'm amused to see what kind of weird stories there are going to be. I saw some things on SomethingAwful about some of the bad customer service stories those guys have had. Hoo boy, some of those were terrible. But I lol'd at DM's first comment. I personally would find that sort of thing to be oddly humorous. (I've never had a job, you see, so I don't have any important experiences to share) |

Let's see... What's another stupid thing that's happened... Well, last week on a friday night when it was late night trading in the mall, a group of teenagers (probably about 15-16) walked in. Now normally I know even talking to these sorts of people is usually a waste of time as they just come in and look around for no reason at all really. I decided to say hi, so I did and asked how they were. They all looked at me and just walked right past me not saying a word. Fair enough, I guess I'm a lower species to them or something... But if that wasn't enough, we had the radio on and a song in the Top 10 Charts (can't remember what song it actually was) came on and suddenly one of the girls gets excited and runs over to the radio. We usually have the radio on low since we want to be able to talk to our customers without having to talk over the radio, but it's still loud enough to hear if no one is in the store. Anyway, when she walks over, she suddenly turns it up high blast where it was nearly deafening and it's like, "WTF!?" You don't just go up to a radio in a random store and turn the volume up when you please, bloody hell! Especially in a jewellery store, it's hardly the type of place for that sort of thing

Please tell me you gave them hell for that. They're stupid teenagers, so regardless of their age, they need to be dealt with. I woulda been fired, to say the least. Because I woulda called the girl a bitch and said a few not-so-nice things. Hence why I'm no longer in customer service. |

Oy, that's something, for sure. Lol. I usually like to be left alone when I'm shopping, but if someone asks me questions or talks to me, it's no big deal, and I'll treat them like they're human beings. I figure that's the least you can do. I feel sorry for the employees when they're getting yelled at about stuff, especially when it's out of their hands to fix. Yeah, I've never actually had a job before, though, so I wouldn't know what it would be like to be on the receiving end of that crap. Good thing, lol. I got stared at by this cashier guy the other day, but I know it must suck to have that job, so I didn't really add to his miseries. I'm sure there's a ton of websites out there that are dedicated to awful customers... |

I was in Spencer's today and one of the employees asked me if I needed help with anything. The first thought that came to my mind was what Rachel said about the girl saying she was just looking. So we had a conversation. Yay. She was wearing a white lab coat with Seymour Bush, M.D. Gyenocologist (I think I spelled that right) |

See that's nice, being able to just have a normal conversation. I don't get that often at work, but when you do it's nice. Doesn't have to be work related, and even if the customer never bought anything, it's just makes work a bit easier to deal with you know? Having a nice random conversation just take your mind off things for a while. But speaking of customer service, today was assessment day where everyone in my class have different time slots to perform a RP based on what we have learnt in Customer Service and Airfares & Ticketing. We had to cover a certain amount of questions and types of questions in our RP in order to pass. Sadly my partner didn't pass but I did with flying colours. I guess because I had an idea of how it worked from my job. But we needed to cover 10 Open Questions, 2 Compound Leading questions, 4 Indirect Buying Signals from the client, 4 Alternate Choice Questions, Easy, Difficult and Unexpressed Objections and overcoming them and ahhh... So much more that I can't remember but yeah, there was a fair bit I was just thinking how nice it would be to have customers as easy as I had it in my assignment lol. They objected a little as that was required but when I overcame them, they agreed and bought a $4000 trip from me. Lol, wish it was that easy all the time

The farthest trip I've ever taken was to Washington DC on a school-sponsored trip in 8th grade. I get kinda nervous whenever I'm on a plane, just because of 9/11 and all subsequent plane happenings. I mean, I'll go on the plane because I need to get somewhere - it's just that, almost by stereotyping alone, I get nervous when I see an Arabic man in an airport or on a plane. Of course, living in the world we're in, you just can't be too careful, can you? Someday I hope to travel to Japan, England and Australia. Maybe Portugal as well, to see the Motherland and Germany to see the Fatherland (lol). But for now, I think that a road trip to Canada will suffice. I'll just wait for things to quiet down on the international scale before I go travelling overseas anywhere. But yeah, a $4000 trip? That'd be really awesome to just go and do something like that. |

Ah, never mind. Seriously, I worry about the North Korea crap. People stereotype against anybody who looks Middle Eastern. If that happens to Asians, that will not be good for me. I have a feeling that it would be less likely, but it could still happen, and America has a few notorious examples of liberties being yanked for security, real or perceived. I guess the farthest I've been is South Korea, but IMO, that doesn't count, because I lived there for 6 months becoming to the U.S., and haven't been back since. Other than that, I'd say Mexico's my farthest (Ixtapa). |

Actually, the South Koreans think Kim Jong-Il is "A spoiled little child with his own country instead of his own room." That is a direct quote from one of my dad's friends who lives in Seoul. But regardless, we're straying off topic. Again. |

I had to quote myself on this since I experienced it today. I went to a travel agency to get some brochures. The guy that helped me was trying to ask questions about what type of holiday I was planning and stuff while I said, "Well, sadly I can't go anywhere yet, I just need some brochures for school related work." And yeah, from there, we got to talking to him and two other consultants there who had done the same course as me many years ago lol and got to talking about what it was like working in retail, what their work history was like, how to handle the job, the travelling they had done, and so on... We got to talking for 40 minutes XD lol. It was fun though But believe me, $4000 isn't really all that much for a holiday. Try picturing the cruises which go around the world that cost over $30,000! People actually do them too And weirder still, I got to see first hand a $25,000 diamond ring get sold at work some time ago. And it was paid in cash which was even scarier

Lol, maybe they robbed a bank or something. At any rate, that sounds like something out of one of those movies, where the bad guys always pay in cash. Lol. I've had weird conversations with employees, usually when I'm going to buy games or books. There were some much older guys (like, in their 30s) buying video games and getting all pumped up about it and stuff, and the cashier was also around that age. So he got really chatty with me about video games and anticipation of games and stuff like that. Actually, it gets awkward when I go out to a restaurant and people ask if I want a kid's menu. Which happens quite often, actually. I try not to make a big scene about it, but it is awkward... |

Well no actually... The lady that bought the $25,000 ring had the money because she just sold her house. And her house sold for 3 million dollars! So yeah... She definately had the money. And there was proof that it was actually the house since the guy I work with, Peter, who sold her the ring went to go visit as she seemed to live near him. He told me the house was beautiful, and it was nearly the size of a mansion
But when it comes to expensive jewellery... It really is worth paying in cash because you will definately get a better deal on it than you would paying by card. I've seen it get done now and then. And yeah err... About your kid's menu thing lol... I love how people can never figure out who is an asian child and who isn't. I have to admit, so many people get them confused It's a good thing about being asian, you look younger than what you actually are.

Lol, like the kind at my school. Spending money for no reason and stuff. Meh. Personality-wise, though, they can be all over the scale, for the most part. I've seen some rich people be nice; or, on the other hand, snooty. Portland's Pearl District comes into mind. It's, like, rich-person heaven. Heck, even the employees act like they're above you and stuff, sometimes. I don't usually say anything, though. |
