Serving people sucks. /end

Well, mostly. I get annoyed at people because of things that aren't really their fault, but still inconvienence me. When I close at work it's by myself, and I only get so much time to get things done or I get bitched out, regardless of how many customers there are. It seems like I'll get one order, and another customer(s) always comes in before I can finish that one. And it can never be one person, it has to be a family of people ordered four of five footlong subs. Ugh. At least I'm not working in that part of the store as much anymore.

As for being on the other end...AT&T is a mish-mash of helpfulness and annoyance. When I originally called to place an order for a phone line and internet, it didn't take very long and the woman was very helpful. I called Tuesday because the DSL wasn't working, and waited at least 10 minutes on hold, only it wasn't just random music, different automated voices kept interrupting it. As if to get your hopes up, only to repeat the same message, "All agents are currently assisting other customers, please stay on hold" before sending you back to the choppy music. Just to taunt you. Once I did get through, the lady was helpful. I called later because it still wasn't on, and that woman was nice, but it took 40 minutes, and all I got was a trouble ticket for someone to call me the next day. To that guy, "troubleshooting" consisted of asking my inane and stupid questions, like if I had an ethernet cord plugged in and if the light was on or off and such tripe. Kind of rude anyways. They were going to send out someone to look at the phone thing for net problems, but I found out it was because they never turned the phone line on in the first place. So I had to call the regular service line and get someone out here to turn it on, and then had to call the DSL service line to cancel the appointment of the DSL tech. I have no idea why they need two different people to do almost the same thing, and why they can't cancel my order from another part of it. So most of the people were nice, but the whole thing was needlessly difficult.

As for dealing with Sprint, they blow. It took me 3 days of going to Wal-Mart and having them call the Sprint people to get my phone re-activated. The first day consisted of a few minutes of being on hold, then they told us it would be back on soon. Lies. The next day they actually hung up on the Wal-Mart person a couple times, and constantly had her on hold, so I ended up being late for work. They were rude also. Then, the third day, it was more of the same, so I just left my damned phone there to not be late for work, and it was on when I went to get it. They were horrible, but I guess they did make up for it with a 325 dollar service credit, teeheehee. Really though, it only paid for two months of service, since a lot of it went to a deposit, since they cancelled my plan a couple weeks previous but didn't mention it until the second day, and also tried sticking me with an activation fee, which did hit but was absorbed by the credit.

The only people that have been generally helpful have been the people at my bank, Flagstar. Oy.

I find some banks can be evil... Like this one we have in the city. I never usually go there but I needed to deposit a cheque I got back from tax hehe :aww: Even though it was $200 less than the previous year but anyway...

They had upgraded their systems there which I wasn't aware of. Usually when you walk into a bank, you queue up at the 'Quere here' sign or whatever until a teller is free to see you. In this case, they now have this machine where you look for the type of service you want and press the button for it. A ticket comes out with a number so you need to wait for this computer up on the wall to call out your number and what teller to see.

Now, I didn't notice that when I walked in. But no one was there anyway so that whole process wasn't really necessary in my opinion. But when I walked up to a random counter, the girl there looked at me like I was stupid and said, "You need to get a ticket." I was thinking like, 'Um, I'm the only one here if you haven't noticed!' But yes, I went to go get one of her stupid tickets, waited for a while until the computer said I could see her. So I walked up to her again, STILL with no one in the bank and she deposited my cheque into my account..... But yeah, I found her quite rude with the way she spoke to me. And the fact that she made me go get a lousy ticket and waste that time when I could have been out of there by that time if she helped first up. Stupid it was <_<

That seems totally pointless and inefficient, even if it is a huge bank. Tickets...geez, reminds me of one of those Secretary of State offices, I hate going to those places. Definately no excuse for her rudeness.

A couple of my friends used to use Fifth Third Bank(Heh, I always referred to it as One and Two-Thirds Bank), but they got screwed over a couple times by them in a rather lame way. They took out more money than they had, but later the same day they deposited a check to make up for it, like they usually did, only the bank said they couldn't do that. Somehow they ended up getting hit with 2-3 fees for going over because they spent money the next day also, so it was like 90 bucks in fees. The bank wouldn't reverse it, though I guess they changed their mind later, but then the same thing happened again and they made more excuses, so my friends just closed their account. There was more to it that made it seem more the bank's fault that I can't remember, but regardless, if you're told you have x amount of money in your account, you should.

Sometimes when I deposit a check and then look at my account online, it doesn't have it added to the available balance, just the account balance(which has 500 more in case you go over so it covers it and then they whack you 32 bucks or whatever), and it won't hit for a couple days. That of course, is lame, so I inquired about it, and they told me that if I deposit after 4, it counts as the next day, and since it's a local check it takes another day...So I've made sure to deposit it by 3:30 at the latest, but then it happened again, and they said the money is there and I can spend it, it just doesn't show up online immediately. Confusing...but if I get screwed over, I can quote what she said and feebly attempt to nag them into submission.

I'd like to add a positive comment about customer service... one that I got personally congratulated on by the customer and regional manager in the state :P Though technically the guy was a douche so I don't really count it as anything special but his positive feedback about me is going to be added to our store's monthly newsletter. FUN

Anyway, the story is that the guy was in the sotre with his partner, and he wanted to buy her a ring. She's not usually a ring person but there was one that really took her interest because it was so different. Unfortunately it was too big for the ring she wanted it on, and there wasn't any other rings she liked. I did a search to see if other stores in Australia had it, but there was only one other store. So the chances in getting a smaller ring was very low but I said I'd give it a try. This was last week, and he needed it this week for her birthday.

The ring had to come in from a different state, and needed to be resized (which usually takes a week in itself). This guy seemed to know the regional manager so he was using her name in order to get the ring cheaper. I hadn't priced the ring with the further discount he would get, just incase if we couldn't get a smaller ring in for him. So I heard from the manager while I was away that when she gave him the lowest price (one that the regional also quoted) he said I said different. I wanted to smack him out for that because I DIDN'T! I KNOW I DIDN'T!

But long story short, the ring came in on friday (the day he needed it) and we got it resized on the same day and it came in later in the afternoon when I started at 5:30pm. So joy, I got to serve him. But yeah, he thanked me for the great serve and going through all the trouble to get him the ring. He also had that quote card with him that I used to write down the code of the ring and it's details. And the price... The ring was technically $395 down to $335... But he got it for $296. And guess what? The prices I quoted were $395 to $335. So the moron was trying to get the ring even cheaper when we were already giving him the best price. And worse of all, he was trying to use me into saying I said cheaper.

So yeah, the guy can go and jump off a cliff for all I care. And if he cared so much about my service, he wouldn't fuss so much over the bloody price. Cheapskate <_<

Wow. Stingy, for sure.

I'm full-aware that I _could_ pull moves like that, but that goes against my code. Lol. There's a difference between being frugal and being just plain stingy. I'd get pissed off, too. People will do anything, though. It's kind of sad.
