As some of you might have heard of the Initial D community on the net, many have given criticisms to the Tokyopop version of the Manga. Looking through a forum I found this

Haha, awsome :P

It's suprising that TokyoPop went by the stupid english dubbed names for the characters in the anime than the original japanese version. I mean... Tak over Takumi? Natalie over Natsuki?? I never thought TokyoPop could be so stupid as to do that. They never have with their other translations

Although I have to admit they lost a few respect points with me when they started taking longer and longer to translate their manga. I'm collecting Fruits Basket from them, and it started out as 1 issue every 2 months... Then it went to 3... Now I have to wait 4 months for the next volume <_< Bloody evil it is!

I mean, Shounen Jump get their volumes out every 2-3 months... And have kept it constant unlike TP... Oh well, nothing much I can really do about it. It is well worth the wait whenever I do get the volumes but still... I just hate waiting so long lol

Wait, I thought Tokyopop didn't translate the sound effects. Or is that fan-made?

At any rate, yeah, translations can suck, especially as they change more things. I can understand if it's, say, a word pun that wouldn't work when translated to English. But other things? Ick.

All the more reason to learn Japanese. Problem is, most people get a couple of words and then quit.

I don't know much about Initial-D to be honest. Only that Seki Tomokazu does a voice for one of the characters.

This is a fanmade comic, you're right that they don't translate sound effects, I've never seen them do that, it would look way to messy.

I thought that the huge spoiler and mufflers along with the NOS kit would have shouted that it was a fanmade comic lol.
