Growing List of Pet Peeves; .......why is it called a "pet peeve"

Well, I was thinking about this, and even though I have a big list of 'em, obviously I can't think of them all at once.. but they usually come to me.

For one, I hate it when people eat a hamburger or any kind of burger upside down. Meaning, the big bun is on the bottom and the small bun on top. The whole point of the damn bun in the first place is to show what goes on top. Proper etiquette, dur. Why not just use regular bread for the whole damn thing, eh? It soaks through just as much, so you're not sacrificing much.

And speaking of upside down, why do people always open a bag of chips from the bottom? If there was no logo on it, I can understand that.. but damn..

Well, what do you guys have?

When people are on my ass in town when the speed limit is 25 and I'm doing 27 or so, yet once it gets to 55 they're only going 45 or 50. Bunch of nonsensical morons. Always in a hurry to get nowhere.

Really? Do you not go as fast in the country though? Everyone I know who is a speed demon in town goes at least 55 out of town, yet these people don't for some reason. It just doesn't make sense.

Regardless...

McDonald's service bugs me. They aren't great in general, but at night(which is when I usually go since I'm DDing for my mom and she wants snack wraps) I have to wait 3-5 minutes to even order, and last time I had to wait 10 more minutes just to get the damn food. Ridiculous. It was actually hot, but still.

No, I just go fast wherever.. but mainly I also ride the bumper. My mom gets mad at me a lot, and goddamn...

That's another pet peeve - sideseat drivers... Jesus, that's annoying.

McDonald's isn't as bad as Wendy's, though. When I go to Wendy's, it takes 10 minutes just to get food. Yesterday I couldn't even eat Wendy's on my lunch break because there was one person on the grill, fries, and everything else, and one person on the register. Oh, and there was a long line.. it was ridiculous..

I don't go to fast food that often, so I can't really say that they bug me that much. I suppose that's what I get for cooking every night.

Mine's gotta be overemotional drivers that get pissed off over nothing. Like, if you pass them, and you don't cut them off, yet they're still really pissed off and will go through the trouble of passing you, cutting you off, and then slowing down on purpose. Insanity.

And the other one is spoiled little kids who whine to their parents in the supermarket until they get their way, which usually involves buying something or another. I mean, I know it isn't easy being a parent, but damn. My parents would have flipped me upside down and smacked me hard for that. I don't get how little kids can get away with the crap that they do; I mean, when I was young, I couldn't get away with half of what these little kiddies pull.

It's the whole "child abuse" thing. I told Nell that our kids will NOT be like that. Me being prior military will help too. They can be disciplined and not be "abused" like they call it. It's all about psychological warfare with the kids. Show them you're not on the leash, but the one holding it.

In any case, that'd be mostly the boys. Since girls tend to not be as wild, I have different ways of getting them to behave.

And I'll be DAMNED if my kids turn out fat. Just because I have the metabolism of a crackhead doesn't mean my kids will. They'll be started out with healthy stuff.

So that goes into my list of pet peeves. Parents who don't know how to be parents.

Agreed. And parents who let the TV raise their kids and then bitch about Grand Theft Auto. Of course asskissing politicians are ready to jump on the bandwagon and blame video games and TV without even doing research, so it all compounds. Bah. If anything music is the worst influence, looking at all the white kids trying to be "urban" or whatever, trying to fit into a musical culture that doesn't accept them and seems really racist judging by how the n word seems to be used in every song...that's another pet peeve, trendy idiots.

As for the child abuse thing, I think it's ridiculous that some people have had their kids almost taken away because of merely spanking them. Politicians and corporations are trying to be so damned PC these days as to not piss off people who are fat because they are lazy or certain activists that speak up a certain way, it alienates any "old-fashioned" ways of thinking that are actually decent.

Same, except I know that it's got to be difficult. And some people just don't have the guts to, you know, keep their kids in line. But that's obnoxious, when people just let their kids walk all over them. I guess they should grow a spine, read some psychology books, and then put plans into motion.

I know I was a really stubborn kid. My parents have really funny stories of me trying to learn how to eat with a spoon, but not having the coordination to do so. Still, I wouldn't let them help me, and I'd get really pissed off if they tried to interfere with my efforts. And I've always been that way.

Another peeve of mine, I've come to decide, is that I don't really like it when people break the extremes of social acceptability. I mean, that's a huge stretch, because my definition of what is acceptable is pretty general. It means that you just don't have to act like a blatant jerk all the time or embarrass any poor soul that happens to be in the same room as you by your behavior. Quietness and shyness are fine, in my book. That's being inept, but not really being defiant. I think I'm at a point in my life where I just don't like a lot of conflict, and it tends to show in my perceptions and preferences, I noticed. I don't care about honest mistakes. I wonder if weeaboos know that they act with impropriety, for the most part. Sometimes, I think they don't, so I don't say anything, trying to be forgiving. But, it's often in the back of my mind, as they run around, displaying their jelly rolls that run out of their skin-tight clothing (complete with cat ears), going "Seshi-sama is MINE!"

I guess the other examples besides weeaboo-ism are not taking responsibility for your actions and temperament (I don't ask people to be perfect, but I do ask them to pay the price for their weaknesses), complete immaturity, and not having basic hygiene. I could understand it in, like, middle school, but not in high school and beyond.

Heh. That actually sounds a lot like me. Or what I do, anyways..

Okay I'm kidding - sort of. I will be a smart ass and I will embarrass you if I feel like you need it. And believe me, some people need it. For instance, those you describe with the weeaboo-ism. They need a good public embarrassment.

*raises hand* AND I VOLUNTEEEEERRRR

My pet peeve now is people who don't pay attention on the fuckin road. I almost died yesterday because someone was pulling out of Taco Bell onto the highway to the median, but really slowly. I had to slam my brakes, swerve to my right, and avoid the ditch that was directly to the right of me.

I think it was either an old person, or someone who was too busy munchin on their damn burrito and not paying attention.

But my definitions, IMHO, are pretty lenient. I don't really mind people who put others in their place, provided that it's justified. Weeaboos running around with Naruto headbands, screaming across the school "(insert Naruto character) IS MY BISHI" at the top of their lungs while (in some cases) spreading their uncleanliness everywhere deserve to, uh, get a heads-up.

I know I'm far from perfect, socially, but I have the decency to be neat in my shared space, I don't snub people, and I try pretty hard not to be arrogant in my ways. Surely, everyone has a bad day every once in a while, but I usually don't change that much on the outside. I'm quiet, but not too bad, by any means. Kind of like Yuki Nagato, lulz.

And, agreed about the road thing. People on their cell phones drive me insane, because they drive as bad as old people.

Not all of them, but most of them. :P

A headset is a little better, but it's not necessarily holding the phone that makes you inept; it's the talking. Unfortunately, some people can't really multitask that well, so they tend to focus on the conversation, regardless of whether they're holding the phone or not. It's not suppose to be as bad if you're actually talking with them in the car, because they're aware of any dangers.

I agree with you on that. I know some people are like that. I think my sister has telephonic ADD. You'll be like, "Hey tell {insert name} that {insert subject}" and she'll just keep talking so you have constantly call her name... bleh..

So on the road, my next peeve is people who cannot eat, drive, or do anything at the same time, but still attempt to do so. I think I'm pretty skilled. I've driven with just my knee before, dodging traffic while eating a Subway sandwich and talking to Nell on the way to school. Oh I'm good.

I get nervous when certain friends of mine drive(one is really bad) because they always look at me when they're talking. Yeah, it's easier to talk that way, but when you're driving that'sbad. I don't do it when I drive, although in general I try not to distract myself too much anyways.

I'm not sure if Michigan is one of the states that has banned cell phones when driving. I was pretty sure we are, but then I see a lot of people on the phone, so either it's not true or they don't enforce it. Maybe it's the latter, since generally the cops are harassing people(like me) to see if they're drunk, or waiting partially out of view for someone to speed.

Oh, they're getting into the undercovers mostly now. I saw one yesterday on my way to the hospital for a work-related event, and there was an undercover guy on the highway, sitting in a driveway that doesn't belong to anyone.

I guess after seeing them enough, the big black light thing on his driver side mirror and the multiple antennae and the big radar gun on the dash were a dead giveaway.

Yeah, I notice the undercover thing, too, lol. Tricky, tricky stuff. Fortunately, I'm not bad about the laws, so I don't really worry too much.

At one of the local schools, they used to catch quite a bit of people. Seems like they knew where to set their cars and sit out until someone sped by or something. Oh, plus, they knew they could catch people that had old license plate tags, lulz. Tricky, for sure.

Lulz, ass-kissing. I don't partake in ass-kissing. I consider it to be beneath me.

I don't really care about favoritism as much, though, as long as it's justified. It's unrealistic to wish that everybody would be treated equally, whether it's in the workplace, the classroom, or at home in the family. But it's pretty wrong if it's not justified favoritism.

As in like, people who get away with shit, but if someone in the same position does the same thing, they get in heaps of trouble? That's unjust.

I have another one - people who try acting like your friend to get something from you. Or in other words, someone who will stab you in the back or use you so they get what they want and you get fucked.
