I know you have those sorts of things that you don't really like other people knowing about you. You call them guilty pleasures because you know you shouldn't indulge in them but you really do because despite the potential objections of society, goddammit you like it. My guilty pleasure? Well, off the top of my head I'd have to say it's watching anime. In front of my friends I'm vehemently against acting like a weeaboo. HOWEVA, that doesn't mean that I don't indulge in watching a few anime every now and again. For example, right now I am watching Bleach, which I think is a pretty good show. I love Full Metal Alchemist. I used to enjoy Tenchi Muyo. Hell, when I was younger I even indulged in watching Sailor Moon (which is apparently everyone's guilty pleasure, thank God I'm not alone in that). That doesn't mean I act like "zomg orihime-san and rukia-san are so kawaii ^_____________^" when I watch Bleach. So, what are your guilty pleasures? They can be anything and everything. |

Mine was not giving a damn about how I dressed. Oh well. I don't know, it's hard for me to think of anything, because I usually try to conduct myself with care. Whether I'm in front of people or not. One possible one, I suppose, is reaping the benefits of being Asian. I guess it's not something I can really change, but I can't say that it doesn't do anything for me, to be honest. It's my automatic label, but it's not a bad one. I guess I inspire that moe-type feeling ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moe_%28slang%29 ), and that obviously can lead to advantages and disadvantages. But to put it pretty lightly, I don't really mind it at all. That, and clever repartee, when I'm with the right person. Some people get annoyed, but it's amazing, sometimes, how it all plays out. |

I actually get a slight adrenaline rush every time I listen to the Advent Children of One Winged Angel. With the guitar and bass and percussion... WOW. I love every riff of it. I'm also taking a good pleasure in knowing that I'm doing fairly well in Kendo, and this is only my 3rd day into it. There are people who aren't very coordinated, and I learn to accept my mistakes with pride and continue onward. We have good instructors, one of them being my advisor. I love Kendo. Hai. |

剣道?ああ、良いねえ... Honestly, I think it would be alright to take kendo. I look at it as being a form of martial arts. Of course, some weeaboo kiddies are like "ZOMG KENDO", but as long as you're not one of them... it sounds alright. My friends say that if I take a martial arts, though, it should be aikido for the lulz. I thought of two things, actually. One would be my practicing Japanese. Not in a weeaboo way, however. I have a friend who is advanced in Japanese, and we ask each other on grammar points and vocabulary, and make amusing puns and jokes which only work in Japanese that are fitting to the situation. And it's not like we do it out loud like idiot weeaboo do. But still, I suppose it does make me feel slightly guilty. Plus, I'll admit to not being number one; I'm not afraid to ask questions, and I don't prattle on ridiculously. I just recently got a shirt that has, like, "super kawaii" written on it, for the lulz. We (my friends and I) saw it in a store and laughed really hard, for some reason, so we got it. And the other would be me going to /b/, like, every day. In before underaged b&. |

Holy shit. Even I don't venture into /b/, and I think I've seen a lot of crazy shit on the Internet. /s/ and /wg/ for life, yo. Anyway, I'm thinking about taking some sort of azn language in college because even though Spanish is becoming increasingly more important to know in this country (I'm looking at you, illegal immigrants...) I don't get the feeling that it's going to be absolutely necessary to know it. That being said, I would much rather take Korean or Japanese (Japanese because Kisan knows it, lolololol). And yeah, I'm really trying to avoid the branding of "weeaboo" from this. Like, trying really hard. I like Japan, but I'm not willing to say, using the 4chan meme, "JAPAN IS SUPERIOR". Because honestly, I really hope I get to do a lot of cool shit when I'm older. IN AMERICA. |

/b/ is mind-blowing at first, but hey, every day is repost day. Still, the lulz don't run out that often. Japanese is good, but the kanji will kill you. I'd probably take Chinese, and then Korean, just because of my slight foothold in kanji and my prediction that China will be the world's next superpower. My interest in learning Korean would probably be because it supposedly has some similarities with Japanese, according to my Japanese teacher, so I guess it might be easier to pick up than others. I guess there is that whole cultural aspect of it, too, but I've always kind of resisted learning Korean just because I was born there. I'd say that, like, half of the people who study Japanese these days are weeaboo. But there's that half that aren't. I know that half of my Japanese 1 class was weeaboo. The Japanese 2 class wasn't as bad. But Japanese camp was, like, almost all weeaboo. It was scary. Me and my /b/ friend, every once in a while, and completely unexpectedly, will say a meme or so when it fits the occasion. I've only used "JAPAN IS SUPERIOR" once, but jokingly. Honestly, I'd like to go to Japan someday, but I wouldn't want to live there. Maybe just to tour. Actually, I'd like to go to Europe. That would be really neat. |

A lot of people want to go to Japan to live because of their weeabooism. I wanna live there because their education system is like, the best. I want my kids to be smart. And they can start off bilingual at a young age, like Utada Hikaru did. I wanna learn Japanese simply because I do plan to go there. My Kendo instructor told us that American Japanese sounds better than Japanese English. And he is Japanese, from west Japan. I found out the other instructor lady isn't even related to him, I don't think. She just helps. But they're both from Japan, she's from the east side. She's the one who teaches the Japanese language class in the winter quarter (Soon to be semester) so I'll take that next year. As far as Kendo goes, it is actually linked to akido. So it'd be easy for you if you took them both. |

All these abbrevations, what do they mean!? /random overreaction I don't know if I'd want to live in Japan, but I'd at least want to visit, and then perhaps afterwards if I like it live there. What draws me to it is just society in general. They don't seem to be nearly as judgemental, they seem kind of...well, weird compared to American society. There just seems to be more of a sense of innocence and compassion and, well, fun. Although I am judging this off of "realistic" modern-day anime like Love Hina and from looking out of curiosity at J-List. I could be wrong, but I'd like to find out for myself regardless. The weeaboo and video game aspects are a plus, I guess. I suppose in a sense a guilty pleasure of mine is complaining...perhaps just in general, or also in the blog/diary/journal/24248929494 other names sense. I'm not a pitywhore, but I realize I do complain a lot in my own sarcastic and hopefully objective way. A place where you write down your thoughts is for you to, well, write them down. Anyone else who see it sees it, but it wasn't intended for them, in theory anyways. I guess I get annoyed if I get no feedback though, maybe because I know they'll agree with me somewhat or offer some sort of possible solution to a problem and it boost my ego slightly. As for in person, I'm very aware of what I say. I'm generally not one of those people who say something and then are like "oh, nothing..." on accident(though I think probably at least half of the time it isn't accidental), I'm somewhat methodical. If I let something "slip", it's intentional unless I'm really worked up, and I realize people could possibly inquire about it. I suppose if I do do such, I'm wanting them to inquire about it. I'm not sure if this is a guilty pleasure as much as a fault in personality...but I did my best to stay on-topic for once

Japanese English... it's kind of like a "u" graph/inverted bell curve, in terms of what people sound like. Most people are either really good or really bad at it. English Japanese can sound alright, depending on the person, but I guess I wouldn't know for sure because I'm not native. Still, I've heard people pronounce "owari" with, like, a hard "r" sound, which made everyone bash their heads into the wall. It was pretty awful. They say that you'll run into good and bad people in Japan, like anywhere else. I hear a lot of stories, all across the spectrum, really. Generally, I hear that they're nice people, with a group-oriented emphasis, but it's supposedly really difficult to be accepted entirely, since you're a foreigner. That's what I hear, anyways. Of course, I can't really say if it's true or not. And it all depends on the people you come across. I did think of one other, though. Chocolate. My God. I hate to "sound like a girl" when I say it, but chocolate is great. I'm normally have extreme resistance to eating a ton of candy, but if it's chocolate... it's more difficult. In short, chocolate wins. |

Yeah, I'm a bit of a chocoholic too. I can't eat stuff like Chips Ahoy anymore though. It's like it just tastes pathetic compared to other chocolate, like I can sense that it's kinda fakey chocolate. I loves me some cookie-dough ice cream, though. |

Ohh man, cookie dough...certainly one of the few examples when the raw material is more satisfying than the end product. I don't eat as much candy as I used to anyways(especially when I worked at Kroger and they had candy bars 4 for a dollar, I'm a sucker for a good deal), but it sometimes hurts my teeth now, ever since I got my teeth cleaned about three years ago. It's not as bad, but still somewhat of a deterrent. |

That sucks. My mom's a dental hygenist (read: like a dentist, but not really). So, I basically make sure that I have no cavities or anything like that. I was in braces for like four years, so I guess she's very thankful that I haven't utterly destroyed my teeth. |

Heh, they told me when I was younger that I would need braces. But it turns out that I don't need them. Woohoo. And my teeth are excellent, supposedly. A more common compliment I get from random people is, "Wow, your teeth are perfect!" Anyways, I don't eat a lot of candy, actually. Maybe just one bite in a while. That's probably why I have an accumulating stack in my room. Chocolate's probably my big thing, though. Especially high on the chocolate list are truffles and perhaps pralines (like, from Belgium). "Cheap chocolate" is not as good, but I suppose it's still chocolate. And chocolate cookie dough IS God, everyone agrees. We even talked about it in one of my classes. If I had my way, I'd just make the dough and eat it. But I slightly worry about salmonella (since I've been trained almost professionally). Mmm, food poisoning. I think that I'd make it with, like, egg substitute if I was just planning on eating the dough, though. I don't eat a lot of ice cream. Somehow, my teeth can't stand the cold so much. My most common dessert item, probably, is popcorn, though. I make the best curry-flavored popcorn. It's awesome. But I like all sorts, as long as they're not dripping with oil. I'll probably try making kettle corn sometime soon... |

It's good, but subtle. If you aren't that sensitive to tastes, then you probably won't taste it well. You fry some curry powder in oil, let the powder settle, and then drain off the oil into another pot. Then, you put the seeds in and pop them. So, it's not real "curry", but the oil has the flavors of curry in it. Still, it's subtle. Helps if you add salt, much like real curry, lol. I decided, recently, that I should learn how to make chocolate truffles. That would kick much ass. I even have a recipe (from The Joy of Cooking). Problem is, chocolate is suppose to be hard to make. I've made peanut brittle before, but not chocolate, which is entirely different. Perhaps I can drag a friend or two into producing truffles... That would be really neat. We could even put them in little cellophane bags and remix chapter 0 of Battle Royale, lol (Noriko gives Shuuya and Kuninobu some cookies in a bag). |
