Hello, I'm still coping with tons of fear to this day after an experience in the wilderness of the Shenandoah valley 1985. Does anyone else suffer from an inability to go into the woods, be outside ofter dark, camping etc? I'd like your thoughts if you've had an encounter. Brian |

Actually Brian, thats a good question. During an investigation I was on a couple years back, I experienced what many call "Infrasound". Now, it is a theory that the BIG GUY may have the capability of creating infrasound. Now, whether they use this as a way of communication or for other reasons, we simply don't know yet. Both of my son's were with me on this investigation. They actually saw a Sasquatch and got a very good look at it. At about the same time, I was in the woods probably a few hundred feet away and experienced a STRANGE sense of fear, confusion and disorientation. I simply wanted to lay down and give up. I can't explain what was happening to me but it had NEVER happened to me before. Now, it took me a few days to get over that, but I DID get over it. It sounds as if you may have had a pretty good look at one from your description of fear. My youngest son still to this day does not like staying out in the woods at night after his sighting. I think each person is different. This past summer, I caught a glimpse of SOMETHING along a road side in VA. It was a windy back road and whatever it was walked upright and into the woods. My exact feeling when I saw it was sheer excitement and my adrenline started flowing to the point where I was shaking; however, it wasn't fear. I must say that I have never gotten a good enough look at the hairy guy so I can't say how I would react. I would LIKE to say that I would remain calm, snap some good pictures and make sure the creature knows I mean no harm. I certainly wouldn't want to make any sudden movements to make it feel threatened, thats for sure. Feel free to tell us a little bit about your experience. We would love to hear it.

My fear stems from knowing now what I didn't know then. Initially I wasn't too afraid of anything. It was years later after learning that my suspicions were right. My encounter was at night and I never got close enough to lay eye's on it. So I had dealt with the unknown for years before learning I conclusively had been within yards of the big guy. He paced and us and tormented us throughout the night with it's hair raising howling and stomping. So now I know what it was and entering the field of research I have a horrible fear of the night or being TOO alone in the woods. Needless to say this once fearless outdoors man has turned total wuss in the night time woodlands. This even applied to my own backyard for several years. I honestly believe if I had been face to face with it I'd feel different about it all. |

I have heard others speak of loud grunts and charging threats. Sort of like the stomping you are describing. However, I have never experienced that first hand so I can't really comment about it. That sounds like a pretty hair raising event. Do you feel comfortable out at night when others are around? Or does it matter? |

Fortunately I'm not dysfunctional. But I do have an equally hard time even when with company. Of course over the years learning about terrifying events that have occurred to others doesn't help. In my case it never charged nor did it ever get close. When we calmly pursued this new found howling and it never dawned us, BIGFOOT. I've been here my whole life and I knew it wasn't a 700lb wolf, in Virginia. So hours of howling and moving around our camp site lead me to this point in life. I've heard grunts and stomps by big bucks in the early morning and while it's a creepy sound but I know it's a only a deer. Once in a blue moon I go back to that spot and look around, I've found twisted trees and other things of interest. I'm basically keeping an eye on status. I forged a number a of friendships and acquaintances from the research but none of it gets me over the unseen or unknown. Now that I have 2 sons the eventual day will come, dad lets go camping. Hell or high water I've gotta go and at least pretend that I fear nothing. |

I had a sighting about 1.5 years ago in the New York. For several months, I had alot of problems dealing with it. Billy got me back in the woods with the security of his weapon, which slowly helped me come to grips with my fears. The huge bipedal creature I saw, ran much faster than a man. |
