Which one would you choose?

When our XC90's lease runs out, we're going to get either one of these cars.

If it's the Audi then it will be the 2.7 Diesel, if it's the BMW then it will be the 530i.
We would end up having quite a high spec interior - with high spec sound system etc - which car has the best sound system?

One more point - does either one of the cars come with a package to get headrest-back TV's, similar to what you can get in Toyota land cruisers.

Also, which one would be comfiest with a family of five in?

I'd be grateful for some help on this,

Cheers

The BMW has the best engine, which has recieved much credit from Top Gear. The Audi looks best and probably has a better 'image' the BMW is probably comfiest however, as Top Gear warns to 'just watch out for the ride' of A6s.

Generally, Audi's come with optional, but fantastic sound-systems.

Try looking around the internet for some reviews, What Car? is particularly good as it has a comparison for features in cars on its website.

For equipment and options, see:

http://www.whatcar.co.uk/car-review-equipm...RT=656&ED=46952 AUDI

http://www.whatcar.co.uk/car-review-equipm...RT=593&ED=51367 BMW

No mention of TVs, but I'm sure they're available on the manufacturer's site.

EDIT - Also, have you considered the Mercedes E280 or R280?

I like the sound of a Bose surround sound system in the A6 :P Don't think that'll happen though :D

I definately think exteriorwise the Audi is more aestetically pleasing then the BMW, but the 2.7 diesel will have very high road tax because of it's high carbon emissions.

We'll book a test drive in them both in the near future.

Diesels actually have lower carbon emissions than petrols these days Julian, the Audi 2.7 diesel produces 184g/km whilst the 2.8 petrol produces 207g/km

Similarly with the BMW, the 530i petrol produces 212g/km whilst the 530d produces just 179g/km

Comparing them - Audi A6 Avant 2.7 Diesel is 184g/km whilst the BMW is 212g/km. The Audi therefore lower in tax....

After having test drives in both, we're going for the A6.
It has a much better ride quality, seats are much more comftable, the SatNav system in it is MUCH better then the silly BMW iDrive, it looks better, it has a better sound system, etc etc.

The only thing which is better about the BMW is the panoramic sun roof - that really is a fantastic feature, and is a shame that Audi don't do a similar thing.

Looking forward to getting rid of the XC90 - it really is a boring car, and is really slow, and is completely battered on the inside (lots of trips to the dump) and a lot of mechanical stuff needs replacing on it (shock absorbers etc) before it gets returned to Lex, otherwise they will charge a premium on those. It has really done ALOT of miles.
