For the love of God, what are BA? 3 year olds throwing tantrums? Who ever made that decision should be shot... |

It's ridicoulous. Personally, I'd choose Virgin over BA any day. What Sir Richard has done is fantastic, and he is admired for it. BA are jealous because they have a serious competitor, and they are not prepared to come to terms with it. I'm interested to see what Virgin Atlantic have to say about BA removing them from Casino Royale - I sent them an email, and am hoping that after me saying I'm going to fly with them next year to Oz (which I probably am anyway) they may talk to me! :D I also emailed BA expressing my outrage... Would be interesting if I get a reply... |

I'm afraid its business folks. The rivalry between BA and Virgin goes back years, not just normal rivalry, but mini-war style. Both companies would do anything to remove traces of each other from their aircraft. In business, you can't go giving the amount of free advertising CR gave to Virgin, you can't give that much to your rivals - especially not British Airways and Virgin. As for your email to Virgin Julian, trust me they'll use it as an excuse to a bit of 'slagging-off' of BA, BA will probably talk about the business element as above. If BA were in CR, Virgin would probably do the same and BA use it as an excuse to get some free PR and a dig at their rivals. As I said, its business - that's what you do. On a lighter note, if I had to choose to fly with BA or Virgin, it would take me a while, preferably out one back another. I have tremendous respect for Branson and other entrepreneurs like him (Sugar, Green etc) and I like the way he has made Virgin a more 'personal to you' airline. With BA, apart from making you feel properly British (sorry Kieran lol) in a foreign country, they still have that cosmopolitan and cool image in many places as they did with BOAC and Concorde. Stepping off a BA plane makes you feel special - you want people to see you generally. So I don't know which I'd choose. |

Yup, it definately makes you feel more 'executive' stepping off a BA aircraft than a Virgin aircraft - however in some respects Virgin is a better airline than BA |

Ya, childish Ryanair style business (oh, wait, Willie Walsh is in charge of BA, i wouldnt have expected less from....well....a carbon copy of O'Leary). Think I'll take up that proper British thing too (hehe)
BA charge extra for puttin your bags in the hold of a long haul flight, Virgin don't, when you add in extra frills (is there an industry definition of a frill? I mean, is tooth paste a frill? Coz ya cant take it in your carry on) Virgin will probably work out cheaper, and better value for money. I mean, it will soon (in fact probably has) come to the stage where Virgin will offer a better product than BA. The other thing is Virgin do market them selves as British (and they offered to buy the BA Concorde fleet [the fact they weren't BA's to sell is besides the point]). At least you don't have the Irish problem - Ryanair v AerLingus...the only difference it that EI crews dont try sell you everything from car hire to raffle tickets (and AerLingus also respect their passengers, unlike Ryanair who treat everyone as cattle)...[/rant] |

Oh you mean the dreaded raffle tickets to win a car? You get more raffle ticket sale announcements than safety demos  |

Well it wasn't a very expensive car  I think BA or some other airline were doing a terminal competition for an Audi TT DSG V6. Ryanair was the bottom-of-the-range Golf. :D  Not to say a Golf's bad, but compared to the other its no match! |

I got a reply from Virgin! They didn't mention the BA incident at all, they just gave me detailed information of what happens in Hong Kong when flying from Heathrow-Sydney with them - was useful as we will probably fly with them next year, and I had no idea of what happened. |
